Four females attacked by wild elephant hospitalised By G.Wickremasinghe
Among the four females were a mother and her two daughters. The victims are T.Gunaseeli (40) the mother and two daughters Inoka Priyadarsani (27) and Anushika Priyadarshi (24) of Rajawela and G.G.Aslin (68) of Godakumbara.
Describing the incident Gunaseeli said that in the morning she was taking her grand-child to the Montessori with her other two daughters. It was about 7am. "We could not walk even 100 metres when from nowhere a wild elephant jumped on to the road and chased us. I ran carrying my grand-son. Both daughters also ran. I went inside the house with my grand-son. The elder of the daughters fell and the elephant raised the other daughter with its trunk and brushed her against the wall. The daughter who fell was unconscious. I shouted carrying the small child. The villagers came and chased away the elephant. Later we came to the Balangdoa hospital" she said.
G.G.Asklin who was also injured said when she went to the well to get some water the elephant was drinking water from the well. “I started running throwing away the bucket and the elephant chased me. I fell My towel fell to the ground, the elephant picked it up and shredded it. I got injured in the hip when I fell.
